UPDATE: Those of you who feel upset by this, over the last few years I have seen 4 "friends" just suddenly never get online any more, and later I found out they just blatantly left MSN without any notice!
Often trading it for Facebook, again showing how it destroys people's lives, but that's material for a later journal.
At least I have the
decency to properly announce leaving MSN!
Since 2001, I have been an everyday user of MSN.
Up to 7.5 I really loved it. Then in 8.0 they changed the interface, and in 2009 things got pretty bad (emoticons not loading, messages not arriving, hotlinking not possible, word filters, eating memory, upgrade nags, frequent crashing etc.) and 2011 is a version I don't even want to use. Soon the upgrade to 2011 will be mandatory and I am really getting fed up with this shit.
Don't get me started on Adium, aMSN, dMSN, eBuddy, eMessenger, mijnmessenger, webmessenger etc. these are all half-baked pieces of crap.
Pidgin and Trillian are decent, but lack functionality and are not always compatible with the frequent changes in the MSN protocol.
Talking about changing, Hotmail is even worse and does not care about anything else than Internet Explorer.
I found a program that works
much better, and even has proper audio/video calls: Skype. Although being less customizable, I can depend on changes being saved, and there is good client software for every platform and device.
If anyone does not have my Skype yet, feel free to ask in a note. Not telling it here, because I don't want spam.
